Nurse Genna is the 500,000th visitor to The Enchanted Forest
Scotland’s premier sound and light show The Enchanted Forest celebrated an incredible milestone this week when it welcomed its 500,000th visitor.
Genna Sawers, a nurse from Glasgow, bought the historic tickets to experience the award-winning event with her boyfriend Darrel Clark.
To mark the occasion Genna was contacted by show organisers and offered an all-expenses-paid dinner and overnight stay for two at nearby Fonab Castle Hotel and Spa to enjoy during her visit to Pitlochry.
Genna, who has never been to The Enchanted Forest before, was amazed when she got the call.
She said: “I’d been hoping to go to The Enchanted Forest for a few years after hearing about how amazing it is from friends and family but had never been able to get my hands on tickets until this year. I was really surprised to be the 500,000th visitor and feel very lucky to have received such a great prize.”
Launching as a three-night show with just 1500 visitors in 2002, The Enchanted Forest has grown to be one of the most popular and must-see autumn events. Now in its 17th year over 80,000 people are expected to travel to Faskally Wood to see this year’s already sold-out show Of The Wild which finishes on Sunday.
Ian Sim, chairman of The Enchanted Forest Community Trust, which operates the event, said:
“The story of The Enchanted Forest is truly remarkable. From humble beginnings with just 1500 visitors in our first year to welcoming over 80,000 visitors and selling out in 2018, this event just keeps getting bigger and better every year. We are delighted to be able to celebrate this milestone with our 500,000th visitor and hope Genna has a wonderful time here. After all, it is our visitors that have enabled this fantastic event to endure.”
