Scotland’s award-winning sound and light spectacular celebrates 25 years with Stop the Clock: The 25th Hour
Tonight, The Enchanted Forest, Scotland’s premier sound and light event, opens its landmark 25th anniversary show, Stop the Clock: The 25th Hour, in the spectacular surroundings of Faskally Wood, Pitlochry.
Marking 25 years since The Enchanted Forest first illuminated the Perthshire night, this year’s show invites audiences to leave the everyday behind and step into a playful, dreamlike world where time no longer behaves quite as it should.
The show is based on the playful premise that once every 25 years, the clocks align and a hidden extra hour appears. In Stop the Clock: The 25th Hour, minutes drift, clocks misbehave and the ordinary rules of reality begin to unravel as Faskally Wood is transformed through an immersive light show with a specially commissioned music and sound backdrop.
Visitors can expect Faskally Wood to be transformed with a series of spectacular new installations, from a larger-than-life talking clock and giant neon cogs turning amongst the trees, to illuminated clouds overhead and a flamboyant flock of flamingos bringing an unexpected burst of colour to the forest.
Gordon Morrison, CEO of The Enchanted Forest Community Trust, said:
“Reaching our 25th anniversary is a very special moment for The Enchanted Forest. For a quarter of a century, people have travelled from all over the UK – and further – to Pitlochry to step into the woods after dark and experience something completely removed from everyday life, and Stop the Clock: The 25th Hour feels like a very fitting way to do that.
“This year, we’re inviting people to forget about the clock for a while, enjoy a spectacular show, whether coming alone, with friends, or with family, and to immerse themselves in a little magic. That sense of escape and wonder is at the heart of The Enchanted Forest, and we hope people leave feeling that they’ve experienced an hour unlike any other.
The impact of the event also extends far beyond Faskally Wood. The Enchanted Forest is a major contributor to Highland Perthshire’s visitor economy, and as a charitable trust, proceeds from the event are reinvested into the surrounding community through The Enchanted Forest Community Fund. Earlier in 2026 alone, a record £134,044 was awarded to 29 local organisations, taking the total distributed to community groups and projects since the fund was established to more than £650,000.
Stop the Clock: The 25th Hour runs at Faskally Wood, Pitlochry, 8 October until 8 November 2026.
