Social Flock

Social Flock is a Perth based community clothing climate charity, founded by Rachael Esdale, rooted in the belief that there is already enough clothing in Perthshire for everyone to have what they need. By collecting pre-loved and new clothing and redistributing it free of charge to people living across Perth and Kinross, Social Flock addresses both poverty and the climate emergency. The charity ensures clothing stays in circulation and out of landfill while restoring dignity and choice to families.

The grant secured from the Trust has enabled Social Flock to expand its reach within the Highland ward, delivering an additional 58 clothing packs across its core projects, including its clothing library, back to school support, and nursery and winter warmer packs. While each pack supports an individual, the impact extends to entire households. With 22% of children in Perth and Kinross living in poverty, Social Flocks’ donations allow families to redirect limited finances towards essentials such as energy bills, food and festive costs.

The support has had a measurable and meaningful effect, helping families save an estimated £8,000-£9,000 in living costs, while also easing stress and improving wellbeing, particularly for children returning to school. The funding has strengthened Social Flock’s circular model by increasing local volunteering and donations, enabling the charity to support even more people across Perth and Kinross.

Rachael Esdale commented: “The impact of this funding means we’ve been able to strengthen our network in the Highland Perthshire ward. We’ve not only delivered more packs of our clothing projects in the Highland Perthshire area, we’ve also managed to increase our number of volunteers from this ward, plus partner with schools in the area, and bring in more pre-loved donations from the local community.”
